The NBW Difference

With all of the decisions new parents need to make when they find out they're expecting, choosing the best provider to fit their needs is usually the most important. Why you may ask? Well, it's as simple as feeling comfortable & safe with the person who will be a part of one of the biggest events of your life! Knowing your views are in line with your providers is of the utmost importance of quality and supportive care.

Besides those very important factors, how about the style of care that is offered and any services they may provide that can benefit you and your family. Our team at NBW knows the importance and benefits of personalized care that is tailored to each individual parent. We strive to focus on each person as an individual so that the care they receive is unique and distinct to their particular situation.

Our Midwives are passionate in educating our families on the importance of good nutrition for mom & baby, healthy supplements that can further enhance their overall health and supporting an overall healthy/fit lifestyle that will promote not only a better birth outcome but an easier postpartum too. How do we do this you may ask?

The goal is to start care with our families as early as possible. Generally in the beginning of the 2nd trimester or between 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. This is so that we can start counseling and educating on proper nutrition for pregnancy.

The initial visit with our Midwives can take anywhere between 1-2 hours long. We go over health history, have you fill out a nutrition log to better understand where you're at and discuss dietary needs/goals. We then do a full body physical and typically do a full panel of blood work to see how you're doing overall. This helps us develop a plan that provides tips and recommendations to help you feel your best during your pregnancy.

Every month we offer a belly to birth group for expecting parents to come and meet other expectant parents while learning new and important facts about pregnancy and more.

Once you reach your 3rd trimester, you get to start your child birth classes. The classes will cover:

  • Stages of labor

  • Coping techniques

  • Breathing & Movement

  • Exercises

  • Breastfeeding

  • Newborn care

  • Postpartum Care

  • The importance of Support before, during and after birth

  • Ways your partner can support you

  • Benefits of hiring a Doula

Once you complete your childbirth class series you then get sent a gift card as a special thank you reward for doing your classes! The gift card is to purchase the daily essentials exercises from Spinning Babies. A wonderful site that teaches you movements and positions to not only encourage babies into an optimal position for birth, but also to have a faster, smoother labor and birth too. All of the recommendations and tips are reiterated throughout your care so that once we finally get to the "BIG" day, labor day, we can all feel confident and prepared to meet that beautiful baby!
